No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor in the world by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

He began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
