The Importance of Poker Position
Hold’em is all about gamblers and position. All experienced Texas Holdem enthusiasts concur that position in no cutoff Texas Hold’em is fundamentally essential. Playing your hole cards in late spot could be much more beneficial than in starting poker spot. This is because a whole lot more information is gathered before acting.
e.g., I was playing a $1-$2 no limit cash game at a local casino. I came in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier button, just to see some fun. Flop arrived A-A-4. A gambler in starting spot placed a $15 bet. Two entrants fold and it was my turn to act. I should have dropped out, but something seemed a tiny bit odd. I labeled this guy as a weak-tight bettor, and typically if he had the biggest hand he would just check, so I called.
The turn arrived with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My opposer placed another wager of $20. I debated for a while, but decided to re-raise another $30thirty dollars over and above his twenty dollars. He folds and I take the money.
Playing last position allows you an insight into where you stand by observing how other gamblers carry oneself and bet. On the flip side, people at early spot can use their poker position to check-raise the last positioned aggressors and corner them later at the end. In Holdem, both spots, last and early should be wagered cautiously.
