Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 where he loved taking part in numerous card games at a young age. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest players would frequently play against one another. He was able to access a number of the foremost minds in chess. Howard also helped his sibling Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie Duke was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper decision. Howard told Annie to move out to Las Vegas and play in the WSOP competition. Annie Duke is one of the best women players the poker world has ever seen. He headed to Vegas in 1993 and competed in cash games for the subsequent 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, he made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
