Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While playing net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world might just be players you have never heard of. Gus can be seen betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
