The value of Poker Position
Holdem is just about players and position. All experienced Holdem enthusiasts agree that position in no cap Texas Hold’em is critically important. Playing your hole cards in last spot can be certainly more beneficial than in early poker position. The reason because a whole lot more info is collected before acting.
As an example, I was playing a $1-$2 no limit cash game at a local poker room. I limped in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the dealer marker, so I could see a little excitement. Flop came down A-A-4. An individual in starting position placed a fifteen dollar bet. 2 entrants drop out and it was now my turn. I should have dropped out, but his betting appear to be a bit off. I read this person as a weak-tight person, and normally if he held the biggest hand he would just check, so I called.
The turn showed with a 7, meaning it was a A-A-4-7. My challenger laid another bet of $20. I hesitated a tiny bit, but decided to re-raise another $30thirty dollars on top of his $20. He folds and I take the cash.
Playing late spot offers you an insight into where you are positioned by watching how gamblers react and wager. On the flip side, people at early spot could use their poker position to check-raise the last positioned antagonists and trap them later at the end. In Holdem, both ends, last and early should be played cautiously.
