Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve last poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
