Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve last poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players in the world may be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
